Dominick - Veterinary Assistant

Dominick Coleman has always had a deep passion for animals—a love inspired early on by his father.

That passion turned into a career when he began working with pets at age 18 at PetSmart, where he ultimately became the manager of the aquatics department. After five years there, Dominick pursued his long-time goal of working on the medical side of animal care. He gained hands-on experience at Lynn Ann Animal Hospital before joining the team at Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital, where he continues to provide compassionate, expert care to pets and their families.

Currently, Dominick is furthering his veterinary education through Penn Foster’s Veterinary Technician Associate Degree program, an accredited and flexible online program that prepares students with core skills like pharmacology, clinical pathology, anesthesia, imaging, and more—including two required hands-on externships.

In his spare time, Dominick channels his love for animals into grooming and boarding both dogs and cats—making sure they feel comfortable, cared for, and pampered. At home, he's a proud reptile enthusiast, tending to his eyelash gecko and snow leopard gecko. Whether on the job, in the classroom, or at home, animals are the heart of everything he does.
