Dr. Kecia Parrish grew up in O-H-I-O. She attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio for undergraduate school. Dr. Parrish received her veterinary degree in 1996 from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine (GO BUCKEYES!). After graduating, she moved to the beautiful Pacific Northwest outside of Salem, Oregon. In Salem she worked in a small animal practice and owned her own practice within that organization that specialized in llamas and alpacas. Although sad to close that chapter in her life, Dr. Parrish moved to Columbia, Maryland in 2003 with her husband Kevin.
Before becoming the owner of Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital in July 2011, Dr. Parrish practiced for 7 and 1/2 years in a small animal practice in Montgomery County. She is very thankful her commuting days are over.
Dr. Parrish is happy to have a practice right in the heart of where she lives, and enjoys serving her community. In addition to running her practice, she works with several local rescue groups to help animals in need. Dr. Parrish resides with her husband Kevin, who is a high school math teacher and boys varsity basketball coach at Gaithersburg High School. Together, they have a wonderful daughter named Addison.
Dr. Margaret Mulford is a Marylander born and bred. She grew up in Rockville, MD and went to Loyola College in Baltimore. After finishing undergraduate school, she worked in the biotechnology field for three years before deciding to head to veterinary school. She graduated from Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in Blacksburg, VA in 2001 and started practicing medicine at a small animal clinic in Gaithersburg, MD. Three years later, she joined a practice in Rockville where she worked with Dr. Parrish for seven years before taking a part time position at Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital. She lives in Rockville, MD with her husband Chris, their two kids Ben and Emma, and three 4-legged children; Roxy, Pepe le Pew and Bianca.
Audrey was born in New York, the oldest of 3 children, and moved to Maryland in Dec 1976. She started working for Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital in October 1985. In her spare time, she is the treasurer for 4 Lure Coursing clubs, as well as the secretary for several local and national coursing events. She also owns a pet sitting business. She does not have any pets at this time--her beloved Ibizan Hound, Dino, passed away in November 2009. Since his passing, she has solely dedicated her love and care to her clients pets.
Andrea grew up in Silver Spring, MD and moved to the Columbia area in the fall of 2012 to work full time at Hickory Ridge. She is the proud mommy of a sweet and loving Belgian shepherd mix named Rylie who she adopted from a local animal shelter. In December 2012, she graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. Andrea is a prospective veterinary student and has 3 years of experience working as a small animal veterinary technician. She continually strives to improve and expand her skills while providing the highest quality care to both patients and clients. Her special interests include dentistry as well as orthopedic surgeries and rehabilitation.
Nicole was born and raised in Berkshire County, Massachusetts. She moved to Maryland a couple of years ago from Las Vegas, Nevada with her husband and their two cats and two dogs. She has been a veterinary technician for 15 years. She enjoys client education and nutritional counseling. In her free time, she enjoys participating in flyball and agility with her dogs and husband.
Heidi moved to Columbia from Sarasota, FL in May 2013 and knew even before leaving Florida that Hickory Ridge was where she wanted to be. She has worked in the veterinary field since 2000 and has always had a house full of furry kids at home. Heidi currently has three kitty kids and is hoping her next doggie match will come along soon. In 2009 Heidi received a Bachelor’s in Social Work degree from the University of South FL and is currently pursuing an additional degree in engineering. The parts of veterinary medicine Heidi likes best are learning about differential diagnosis and treatment planning, providing client education, and snuggling dogs and cats!
